Contribution Refund Requests

If an Employer has overpaid Contributions previously due to a mistake in reporting incorrect Salaries/Earnings or incorrect Employee Start or End Date records, the Employer can Request a Refund of the Overpaid Contributions.  The Refund may be processed as an actual Refund or as a Credit on the Employer’s Account.

Overview

The Refund Requests can be entered directly by the Employer through their e-Services, or they may be entered by a user in the Social Security Administration.

The user can find a table or listing which includes all submitted Contribution Refund Requests.  Using the available filters, the user can then filter and search for a specific request or can enter a New one.

After selecting the Employer and the Contribution Return concerned, the user can then choose the exact Employee whose Contributions were paid mistakenly and indicate what the correct amount should have been.

The system will then calculate the difference and provide a Refund or Credit on the Employer’s Account depending on the settings in the General Setup.
